W00t! Unexpected holiday!

October 9th, 2008

I just found out today that I have Monday off as a holiday. I haven’t had that day off as a holiday in forever. Maybe never.

*sigh*

TIAA-CREF is using a Sugar song in a commercial. *Sigh*

I still need to get my photo for today, along with about a bazillion other things that I feel I have to do every night–including getting something done for work tomorrow. I have to start work at 6:30am, but at least I get to work from home instead of being in KC by 6:30am like I used to.

Day 74: Working

March 14th, 2008

Day 74: Working

Seventy-four days! I’ve managed to do a picture a day for seventy-four days! Okay, I’m not even half-way done, and I’ll bet that I will miss one at some point.

Today’s picture is dedicated to working because I’ve found that I suddenly have lots of stuff to get done, and I need to post a photo, so there you go. That has been the focus of my attention this past week. Along with taking care of the kids sans-Mac, trying my hardest to keep the house only on the edge of chaos, reading all my news items, and wanting to learn more photography. I’ve only found the time to just snap a quick photo.

I’m taking a day off on Monday, so 3 day weekend for me! Which means I just get to direct my work somewhere else. Ada’s new bed will be delivered next week, and I’d like to tear apart their room and put it back together in a more organized fashion. That includes packing up most of the winter clothes and hanging up the spring/summer clothes. I also would love to clean the carpet. This will be a hard task to accomplish when I’m the only one on kid duty. All wish me well.

I’m also on the hunt to wall mountable cubes to organizes books and stuffed animals. I don’t have the floor space, so I’m looking up. There used to be some configurable cubes for offices at Ikea, but I’m not seeing them anymore. Send me mail or comment if you have ideas.

Boo, and Yippee!

February 29th, 2008

There is a water main break, so boo because there is no water, no restrooms and most importantly, NO COFFEE at work. Boo because I drove all the way to KC to find this out. Yippee because I’m not staying. I’m going out to breakfast with coworkers and then driving home since they do not want people work in the building mainly due to lack of restrooms.

I’m kind of glad that I did drive to work because I need to take my half-n-half home so they don’t throw it out. They clean out the fridge at the beginning of the month, and even though it hasn’t expired and I write a note asking to please not throw it away.

Day 18: Cubiffice with a view

Day 18: Cubiffice with a view

I’m contemplating leaving work now even though I have another hour. I was staring out at my “wonderful” view, and I thought I could not only stare, but capture the moment for my picture today. This picture is brought to you by iFlickr on my phone.

I used to have a window with sun. One that allowed us to spy on people in the streets with binoculars. Now I get to stare into a hotel cube in the opposite wing of my floor. Sometimes there is someone there that I can entertain with a note stuck in the window, but mostly it is empty.

Bored now. Want to go home.

It is almost time!

July 3rd, 2007

It is almost time for the Transformers!!!! We have our tickets. We have our babysitter. I try to stay away from reviews, but they sucked me in using a cool Optimus Prime picture. It was a bad review.

I’m just now wrapping up my work day. Yesterday, it ended at almost 3:30am. I would love it if I could keep a regular schedule working at night and sleeping in until 10:00 - 11:00am. I still only get 8 hours of sleep, but I feel wonderful. I don’t feel tired and need to fuel my day with a slow, steady stream of coffee like when I have to get up at 6:00am. However, the business world doesn’t care if I’m a night person. And neither does James. He woke up a little before 6:00am for the 3:30am work shift.

My surgery was rescheduled for a few days later. However, I’ve only had a couple of episodes since my emergency room trip, so I’m fine with it. I just have to be careful what I eat.

Yesterday’s pour-down/hail/wind/tornadoes brought today’s sunny, lower-70s weather. A break from the 90s is hard stuff to sit inside and work through. However, I’m at home and by an open window enjoying the fresh air. None of us are at work today either. It makes it tempting to throw the afternoon of work away in favor of taking Ada to the park. Considering how much work I have to do, it would not be a good idea.

I also purchased (sorry, Mac) the new Pac-Man World Championship Edition on XBLA* for my mother to try.

Saturday, I would love to make it to the farmers’ market. I hold little hope on me getting up and navigating through both kids in time to make it out.  Mac is helping someone move on Saturday, but I’m not sure what time. We have a small birthday party Saturday night that we will both attend if we can obtain babysitting. If not, then Mac will probably attend. Sunday is the series finale of The Sopranos. It is also my day for planning the meals for the next week.

I still love my hair being short. I predicted that I wouldn’t get it to look like the picture again, and I was right. The back does not work out well for me. the top, longer part does not blend into the bottom part, and the short bottom part likes to curl slightly and stick out. I don’t think I can flat iron the back of my head without burning myself. It looks better the second day, though. Today, I’m going to let it air dry and see what I can do with it. I’ve been blow drying it so far. People do say they like the cut, but it is the color that has been making the most impression–in a good way. Charity did a really good job on picking out a color for me.

What else…Oh, yes, robot fighting. McKitterick posted this, and I’m glad he did. It made my day:

This weekend will be the

October 6th, 2000

This weekend will be the first weekend I’ve had off in eons. It has been such a long time since I’ve had spare time that I’m not sure what I will do with myself. I have a billion things I want to do that I find it too overwhelming. So, I end up doing none of them. Some of them include: rearranging my living room, reading a book or two (but of course I can’t decide whether I want to read a book for my career or a book for pleasure), redoing this page, or digging into Director Studio 8.

Maybe when my brain is rested up I can actually put something highly creative and thought provoking in here. I just needed to add something to keep my biggest fan happy.

It has been awhile since my last writing. That is what happens when you work 12 - 15 hours a day. All I know is that I cannot wait for my trip to Hawaii :) .
