Day 88: Hello House Clutter!
March 28th, 2008
It is my own fault. I bought this for Ada as a present on St. Paddy’s Day. It was a suprise Hello Kitty figure. I didn’t know which design it was going to be until we opened the box. Ada has a small love for Hello Kitty. At least, she gets really excited when she sees Hello Kitty stuff. She doesn’t have a massive collection, but so far it contains:
- A Hello Kitty crayon holder
- Her Build-A-Bear has Hello Kitty panties.
- A play Hello Kitty cellphone
- Hello Kitty stickers
- Hello Kitty egg decorating kit for Easter.
- A Hello Kitty t-shirt
- The origami bird Hello Kitty figure
- Hello Kitty electric toothbrush
- Hello Kitty toothpaste
- Hello Kitty bubblebath
- Hello Kitty drinking cup
The bad thing is that there is so much Hello Kitty stuff out in the world that her collection could become massive. If I let it.
I also picked up another monkey cup for the kids. My mom said that the number of kids cups is going to outnumber the adult cups soon. But Target keeps shelving kids cups. They are plastic. They have cute things on them. They are plastic. They are cheap. They are plastic. I almost grabbed James a straw lobster cup. It is plastic. I’m now wishing I had. Plastic.
M, you’re right. We *do* need one!

Yippee and Boo
February 18th, 2008
Yippe: An order I placed recently was shipped today. The estimated arrival is Thursday! M knows what it is!
Boo: If my general digestive area that I refer to as “my tummy” doesn’t stop causing me pain and grief, I may have to bash my toe with a hammer as a distraction.

New Toy!

Mac brought home a surprise tonight for me tonight! My new toy!
I always talk myself out of replacing my 7-year old one, 128MB one.
New Toys
January 6th, 2005
1. My Bluetooth headset for my Treo650 should be here tomorrow. Now I just need the car kit (someday).
2. Our 2 new 250GB SATA drives were shipped today. I’m having hard drive problems. Lots of hard drive problems. Since we have the laptop, we’re using Mac’s desktop for something else and we’ll share mine–hence the 500GB of space. I currently have 180GB, and I’m almost filling it up by myself.
3. I remember when the personal license special was only $149. I’ll probably pass on the increased one this year, even if I really, really do like this tool*. I’ve never liked any IDE until I started using Eclipse in the 2.0 days. Then I used IDEA, and I loved it. Eeks! Maybe it is a sign that I’m getting old.
Oh, Best Buy, How I Love Thee
March 5th, 2004
People who know me well, know that I’m a big lover of Best Buy. Well, actually, I’m a big lover of electronics, and Best Buy is the electronics store in my area*. I get so giddy walking up to the door under that big yellow tag. I went there today to look at a couple of cell phones before I bought a new one. That’s it. Just to look. I came out with a new alarm clock with better features than my previous one**. People also know that I love to go and hug my favorite electronics equipment that I don’t own yet. Right now, I typically visit the plasma televisions. Tonight, I got caught by a salesman hugging a Panasonic 50-inch HDTV ready plasma tv. He tried to sell me the floor model of that tv for $5000, which is almost 50% the price of the non-floor model. The floor model didn’t have any dings in it that I saw. It wasn’t all grubby from people like me who go up and hug it. There are other brands that I think have a better picture quality, but none of them were 50-inches for $5000***. However, I have my eyes on a getting a new car in a couple of months, and don’t need a $5000 credit card balance to show up on my nice credit report right before I apply for a car loan. I do have to admit, as I was walking up to pay, I wanted to fling my alarm clock aside and run back into his arms yelling, “I’ll take your 50-inches! I’ll take it!”
Oh, how I love electronics.
On an unrelated, but yet related, note, my niece, Madisyn, just sent me an IM. She said “xfghkhjfsfgyimgjg.” I don’t know what that means in 2.5 year-old speak, but it looks like something she would say.
**Instead of picking a number to set the weekend sleep and never remembering whether 1 corresponds to Monday or Sunday and always having to dig out the manual only to find out it is 0 and I still don’t know if it is Sunday or Monday, I now just set the date. So, if I set my alarm to only go off during the work week, it knows by the date. Not only that, I have the additional options of setting a weekend only alarm, so I can have it go off at a different time on the weekends. I now have a sleep volume, so I can go to sleep to the radio at a soft level and still have it blaring when the alarm goes off. It also has a battery indicator so I know if my back-up battery is still alive. The radio tuner is now digital and has memory buttons. What it doesn’t have is a CD player that plays mp3s. The cd player in the old one didn’t either, so I’m not missing anything. It also has three alarms, but the alarms are based on what you want to wake you up. Alarm 1 uses the CD player or buzzer, and alarm 2 uses the radio. So, I can set the radio time for 4:30 am M-F, and the CD/buzzer one for Sat and Sun at 8:00 am. The 3rd alarm is nature sounds, which makes it totally worthless. Who in the world could wake up to “Forest Spring?” “Summer Breeze” sounds just like static. I have accidentily tuned out the radio station thinking it was the volume, so the alarm was just static when it went off. This did not wake me.
***Yup, I said 50-inches of hot, screaming, plasmatic goodness for only $5000.
Making Dreams a Reality
January 17th, 2004
I can’t say that my dreams have become reality, but if that were ever to be the case, this world would be a much more interesting place. However, my new toy will keep me just as entertained.
I can’t decide! Which color should my new toy be, silver or green?
