Ha-Ha!

December 28th, 2005

This quiz result is great considering the origin of my name, Melissa, means bee, honey bee or honey (depending on context) in Greek. And the word melissobotos means “to be fed on by bees.”

Fives

From thefridayfive

1. What do you do for fun?
Play with Ada, Play with Mac, watch movies, play video games, sleep

2. Is there a person from your past you would like to talk to again, even if it would be a potentially painful conversation?
Yes, but it wouldn’t be painful at all.

3. What is your favorite comfort food?
What food doesn’t comfort me? That’s the more appropriate question.

4. What is your preferred form of self-expression? (Do you dance; or express yourself through music, conversation, etc.)
Um….

5. You just received $5000; what do you spend it on?
Paying off a car

From fridayfiver

1. Favorite brand of jeans:
It depends on my weight. I think that Levi’s fit me better than any jeans that I consistantly buy. My favorite style is low waist jeans. Since I’m so freakishly short in the waist, these jeans fit me like normal jeans. Normal cut jeans fit me like goober pants. I need to buy a bunch in different sizes so that I have a supply before they go out of style.

2. Magazine you read regularly:
I get a cooking magazine, and I do browse through that, although the original purpose was to get to the recipes on their website. Magazines are mostly just a book of adverts.

3. If a button came off your clothing, could you sew it back on?
Yes, and it would never come off again.

4. Have you ever had a curfew?
No, not that I remember. I was a good kid*.

5. Most dangerous thing you’ve done:
Cooking. Heh.

From the altfriday5:

1. How many hours do you normally sleep at night?
Now, probably from 4 - 6. Although Mac is nice to see that I catch up on sleep on the weekends.

2. Do you wish you had more time to sleep? Or do you wish that you slept less?
I wish that I could function better on less sleep.

3. Do you like sleeping?
Yes. I have cool dreams, and almost always remember them.

4. What is the longest continuous period that you have spent awake? Why did you do it?
3 days. My last semester of college I had to take 5 finals, give 3 finals and turn in a math project in the first three days of finals. Since I didn’t have to take 3 finals in one day, and apparently the project didn’t count, I couldn’t reschedule any of them. I almost died.

5. If you were offered the chance to eliminate sleep from your life, with absolutely no negative physical or psychological side effects, would you take it? Why or why not? What if this chance was only possible for you, and not for any of your friends or family, or society at large?

Are you kidding? Yes! Just think of all the things that I could get done! I could spend the everybody-else-is-sleeping time to do mundane things like laundry, house cleaning and so on. Then during everybody-else’s-waking-time, I would be free and open.

Or reading! I might actually be able to read again! Exercising!

Oh, to dream…

*At least, as far as my “record” shows. Now, off the record, well…

Let’s just say that the smart ones don’t behave always. They just don’t get caught.

Okay, One more

October 27th, 2005

Okay, one more then. Ada is back to sleep, and so is Mac, who did a wonderful job taking care of both of us today. He got up with Ada at 5:00am, even though he had the day off. He got Ada ready and took her to daycare. He had breakfast waiting for me when I got up. He took me out to lunch and walked a little on Mass with me. Then he drove me to my appointment, fanned me when I started getting really hot, and then made a nice hot bubble bath for me to help ease my discomfort when we got home. He went to the store to get me more milk and picked Ada up so that I could rest. So, he collapsed about 8:00. I’ve never been with anybody who is as nice to me as Mac is. That is probably why my love score on my previous test was so high.

Okay, next test.

Quiz Catchup

October 27th, 2005

I’m finally feeling better after my Dr. appointment, so I decided to catch up on LJ reading before getting Ada up to feed her. This new sleeping schedule she has shifted to has made her way more pleasant to be around. She is not sleeping as much during daycare, and ends up getting grumpy around 6:30pm, so we put her down and she falls right to sleep. Then we get her up around 8:30 - 9:00pm to feed her. She stays up until 10:00 - 11:00 at which point she gets grumpy again. We put her down and she stays asleep until 5:00 - 6:00am. She wakes up in a pretty good mood now too.

Next are the all the memes/quizzes that I’ve read and had to take.

Because I’m still up and home

October 22nd, 2005

You Should Get a PhD in Liberal Arts (like political science, literature, or philosophy)

You’re a great thinker and a true philosopher.
You’d make a talented professor or writer.
What Advanced Degree Should You Get?

I don’t know about the writer part, but philosophy would be cool. I got my math degree because I loved math, not because I had any career goal in mind.

Ada is peaceful enough at the moment for me to take a mental break, so what do I do? I get on and read LJ. Heh.

Here is the latest meme. This is just the <your name> is meme with a different phrase. So, there is the “Melissa needs” google meme. It is amazing how fast these things spread around.

Quiz, while Mac and Ada sleep

August 29th, 2005

I took a quiz that Mac mentioned he took today, but won’t post the results. I usually can spot which questions is for which character, but I was happily surprised by this result. I’ve been watching Buffy and Angel again along with Mac, who hasn’t watched them before. We are up to Season 7 of Buffy and Season 4 of Angel.

Glorificus
54% amorality, 63% passion, 63% spirituality, 45% selflessness
You probably have a complicated, multi-faceted personality. Kind of like Glory-Ben-Glorificus.

Passionate and driven with a spiritual side that comes out at times, a
healthy taste for the finer things in life and a willingness to do
what’s necessary to achieve your ends. You’re assertive and have no
problems standing up for yourself.
And, push come to shove, you’re the closest anyone’s ever come to
straight-up beating the Slayer and her gang.

Congratulations!

I hit Michael’s today and found the unpainted wood boxes that I wanted. Now, I will paint them myself. I also picked up an unpainted shelf that I will paint and hang in Ada’s room. I may actually finish her room before she is old enough to tell me she doesn’t like it.

All three of my family members are asleep. I need to quickly escape and do some chores!
