James 18-Month Stats
August 13th, 2008
Here are his 18-month stats. His weight went down a little from the appointment he had at the beginning of July for daycare, but he also stands on the big person scale now, and he is fully clothed. Or he really did lose weight. He has been sick twice since that appointment.
Height: 35-inches, above the 95th-percentile. Even though they marked it down at 2ft 11in, I think that he was just a bit under that mark, so maybe 34.75-ish might be better. Either way, still above the 95th.
Weight: 28lbs 4 oz. , right around the 80th-percentile.
A James first
July 2nd, 2008
James had a first today. He spent his first day in daycare. James and Ada are both going to attend Googols of Learning full time. They said he did okay, but he had periods of clinging and OMG HOLD ME. I’m sure he will adapt and be as happy as Ada is to be there. I had to drive to work, so I didn’t get to participate in his first day. He had a doctor’s appointment first. Here are his 17 month stats. He hasn’t grown a lot since mid-May.
Height: 34 inches - just a smudge above the 95th-percentile
Weight: 29 lbs - just a smudge below the 90th-percentile
They don’t measure him on the baby scale anymore either. He has to stand on the regular scale. My big boy!
Photos should return, um, in a couple of weeks. I have too many other things with work right now, and I’ve been overloading and missing out on sleep and getting frequent headaches and James has been serving me way too much pie lately and now I’m sick. So photos have to take a backseat for just a small time. I think M and L are my only regular viewers anyhow.
Day 134: My children are large
May 13th, 2008
James had his 15-month today. Here are his stats:
Weight: 28 lbs - just a smudge under the 90th-percentile
Height: 33.5 inches - just a smudge above the 95th-percentile
James is average height/weight for about a 23-month old.
I wish this photo would have been focused correctly because I love James’ face, and he is wearing my favorite shirt. I’ll have to try another shot of him and that shirt later.
Ada Stats - Year 3
May 5th, 2008
Ada had her 3-year physical today. Nothing to note except for my concerns about her occasional, odd clumsiness. He’s going to monitor this with the school district since the obvious things that would cause it don’t apply to her. He was impressed with how much she has caught up developmentally though. He hasn’t seen her for a year, thanks to her impeccable health record. She hasn’t been sick since we took her out of daycare at 11-months old. I’m thinking that she built up am immunity to everything while she was there. She was sick about every other week during the daycare days. This will change once she starts preschool in June I’m sure.
Here are her impressive stats. People do not believe me when I tell them her age, at least at first. I always have to validate that I’m an not intentionally lying or forgetting how old my child is. This would be because Ada is of average height and weight for a 4.5 year old.
Height: 3-feet, 4.5 inches — a good amount above the 95th-percentile
Weight: 35 lbs - just a tad under the 90th-percentile
He asked what she was eating that is making her so tall. I do not know, but whatever Ada is having, I’m having because I would be happy to add about 3-inches to my height*.
Ada and I ran to Target afterwards because I wanted to pick up a couple more socks for her**, and a few other things. We were picking up some more pull-ups for her when a woman asked me if I just called her “Ada.” I confirmed, and she said her daughter’s name is Ada. My Ada is now the third one she knows. It is a name that hasn’t been popular since the late 1800s. It seems to be gaining in popularity as is all older names. Her daughter would be the third one that I’ve heard of as well. So, there are at least 3 little girls in Lawrence named Ada.
*Actually, I’m happy being short. It hasn’t ever bothered me. I can afford a step stool. I’m also happy to be breeding a generation of people who can help get things off of shelves for me.
**Ada has four socks now with missing mates. Really, where in the freak are her socks going?
James’ 1-year stats
February 8th, 2008
James had his 1-year appointment today. Here are his stats:
Height: 33-inches, waaaaaay above the 95th-percentile
Weight: 25 lbs, about in the 80th-percentile
I got a much needed hair cut today. I had a butternut squash crab bisque for lunch afterwards. It is the first time that I’ve had that combo, and I really liked it. I picked up brown rice sushi on the way home today for Mac and I. I made vege soup for everybody else. I’m getting really hungry. I also picked up the Vita-Mix blender that Mac’s mother got for us. It goes up to 240mph! It’s going to blow away our current blender. We cannot decide what to use it for first, but I bet it will involve ice and alcohol. I need to pick her up a thank-you card. It is a very generous gift.

Super James!

Weight: 20 lbs - just below the 90th percentile
When going out and seeing other people with their babies, I’m surprised to see so many tiny ones sitting up in carts. They are so teeny. How do so many do that? Answer? They aren’t teeny. James is ginormous. He’s about average for a 10 month old.
Teeth
He doesn’t have any yet. For a long time, we’ve been able to see those two bottom teeth. I was worried he was going to start getting them early. So far, no teeth. He’s constantly chewing on anything he can get into his mouth, but not one tooth has poked through yet.
Rolling Over
Yeah, no problems there.
Sitting Up
He can sit for maybe 2 - 3 seconds before he either topples over sideways or ends up kissing his knees. Well, kissing the fat that covers his knees. I may have mentioned it, but, yeah, ginormous. It would probably help him to sit up if he wasn’t constantly kicking his legs.
Crawling
I doubt he’ll start this until he gets sitting up. However, he doesn’t inch-worm his way along. He just uses his legs to push is head forward.
*And guess what? So have I! Only I went to bed at 2:30 am unlike James who went to bed at 7:30 pm.
James Update
June 12th, 2007
James had his 4-month appointment today.
Weight: 16lbs, 11oz - In between the 75th and 90th percentile
Height: 27-inches - He’s just above the 97th-percentile.
James is a ginormous baby. I’m going to have to pack away the 3-6month onesies and jammies. Even the 6-9 month doesn’t look particularly big on him. He’s also outgrowing the carrier carseat. I’m going to have to start putting him in one of Ada’s within the next month or two.
