However, I do have one that is there jsut for entertainment value: GIR!

There are some Sudoku widgets, but I don’t even dare put them on my desktop.

Now, if I only had more time, I would be writing a Tivo widget. Or searching to see if there already is one.

I rarely ever post about what new service or technology that I’m playing with, only because I assume that if I know about it, surely those who care already know as well. I know this isn’t always the case, so I thought I would start sharing even if I think that you’ve already heard about it before. So, I will share a couple.

Pandora: This is a new one pointed out to me by geekmom, and I have to say it is way cool. It uses the Music Genome project to stream a radio station with songs that are similar to an artist or song that you enter. Sign up for a free account, and you can save, um, 100 stations* and be bombarded with ads, or you can pay a $36/year subscription fee to not have advertisements. It allows you to give feedback on the current selection, and you can skip songs, although it limits how many you can skip in one hour.

Yahoo! Widgets: Yahoo! bought out a company to compete with the Google Desktop. I use Google Desktop, but if you are used to using X-Windows and window managers on Unix systems, I think you will dig Yahoo! Widgets. If you have no freakin’ idea what X-Windows is, I still think you will dig Yahoo! Widgets.

*I think. I don’t exactly remember, and I’m not going to double check this fact before I post.

So, in my decision making to either 1) Upgrade MovableType on our server, or 2) Put stuology on a third party server, I signed up for a Blogger account. I have a LJ account, but LJ is the suck. The only benefit to that is having friend’s filters for posts. I was hoping with Six Apart acquiring Live Journal, that it would improve, but it has seems to only get worse.

So, here is my Blogger. I’ll have to delve into their API a little bit to see how easy it is to program for Blogger. Oh, they do have the option to publish it on your own server, however, I would have to open up my server to let it in.

I do believe that it has an Atom feed, so those on LJ that read my RSS feed, can still do so from LJ.

We’ve already switched to Flickr, GMail, and next goes Stuology. Soon I won’t be doing anything for myself. It frees up time for me, but still, I have a do-it-yourself attitude. Plus, I’m most likely handing my stuff over to some corporation or another, and blah, I don’t like that a lot either. At this point, it seems like I’m handing over most of my life over to Google. They better stay on the up-and-up, or I swear, I’ll, well, I’ll probably not be able to do much of anything. I wonder if Google and Yahoo! could get along well enough to program some Flickr access from Picasa.

We thought about going out to the pumpkin patch today, but with the weather still in the upper 70s/lower 80s, it just doesn’t seem right. We are going to try for next weekend, hoping at the weather will cool down a little bit. Next <strike>weekend</strike> Saturday is our last free weekend until, well, we may have one free in December–the first weekend in December, but other than that, not until next year.

“‘I took my chair here and I threw it over my shoulder and I went, ‘Bam,” the 20-year-old said nonchalantly…

‘They were getting in front of me and I was there a lot earlier than them, so I thought that it was just,’ he said.”
