Oh, and…

December 4th, 2005

M, I did get those chocolate hazelnut wafers, and yuuuummmmmmyyy!

They are little hugs from inside your tummy.

I guess the key word in this article is can.

Dark Chocolate can lower blood pressure.

I say that because during one of my lower-moods after I had Ada, Mac surprised me with what had to be about $70 worth of really good chocolate from World Market. I have the highest blood pressure I’ve ever had in my life. I still have quite a bit of it left, so maybe I’m not eating enough of it.

From the article:

White chocolate, which has no flavonoids, was the perfect control food because it contains all the other ingredients and calories found in dark chocolate…

Not only is white chocolate missing flavonoids, it is missing a soul. Blech. Anybody who is stuck eating white chocolate* would understandably have high blood pressure. The stuff is horrific.

*It even pains me to call it chocolate at all.

Ah ha!

We’re watching Iron Chef America before we head out to dinner. I just want to note that my theory is correct, and just now verified by Alton Brown:

White chocolate is not chocolate. It shouldn’t legally be called chocolate.

Thank-you.

Okay, I wasn’t going to post but instead try to get to bed early. Then I figured I have the day off tomorrow, so I’ll post about the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup phenomenon. See, being a chocoholic, if there is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup around, I’ll eat it. However, if you rank all the chocolate in the world, Hershey’s is not the best*. What I want to know is why is it when you take the same waxy-ish chocolate** and dry-ish, crumbly peanut butter and make it egg shaped, does it become heavenly. The Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg ranks right up there with my Valrhona.

When I went to Stuology to post what I just posted above, I decided to read up on everybody else’s blogs, and if somebody has a quiz, I’ll take it. Well, this wasn’t a quiz, but if you want to know the results, use the link to read the full post.

Today is my 9/80 day off, so I headed down to Rudy’s for lunch with a friend. Of course, I had to stop by Au Marché for chocolate. I was wonderfully surprised to find that they now carry Erfrischungs-Stäbchen. I love these, and it has been awhile since I’ve had them. I think that bukkhead bought some for me when he was in Germany, but something happened to them. I also picked up some of my favorites: Manjari Valrhona bars and Baci for Valentine’s day.

I’ve purchases something that I have not in a very long while. I recently bought two games: Final Fantasy Chyrstal Chronicals and GTA III. I decided just to get the PC version since I’ve upgraded my video card, although with console prices so cheap, it was tempting to get an XBox. However, considering how much I actaully even really play games these days, I decided not to even spend the measly $140 dollars on one. I’m not even sure if I’ll buy a console when the next generation come out. Am I getting old or what?!?

My TiVo is overflowing with shows on chocolate thanks to The Food Network. I’ve only watched three of them so far, but one of them featured some yummy looking chocolate cocktails. Oh, I do want to get together with folks around me sometime soon for a night of Chocolate Drunken Monkeys! I also saw the most beautiful chocolate wedding cake–as in chocolate on the outside and inside instead of the traditional white. It look wonderful! Then there was the woman who made her wedding cake out of Chocodiles*, which made me sad.

*Inside joke for those in the know.

**Chocodiles are apparently chocolate covered Twinkies. I have never heard of such a thing. I think they are only on the west coast. They can stay on the west coast. Blech.

MacGyver on SpikeTV

February 8th, 2004

For those of you who wander over here searching for MacGyver information, SpikeTV has picked up syndication rights and will start airing MacGyver twice a day at 10:00 am and 11:00 am CST. It starts on Monday, February 9th (yup, that’s tomorrow) starting with the Pilot and episode 2. Here is a upcoming schedule. I also do not know anything about the rumors that they are showing uncut MacGyver. This apparently comes from a rumor that they show uncut Star Trek. I wouldn’t know about that either.

I spent about two hours this morning* watching The Food Network. Why? Well, all the cooking shows were about chocolate. I guess this was a kick-off to Chocolate Obsession Week, which start tonight** at 7:00 pm CST. That’s one ingrediant that will get me to cook. Yum!

*Technically, yesterday morning.

**Tonight as in Sunday. I’m just keeping myself straight. Haven’t gone to bed yet, so for me it isn’t another day even though it is.
