Wal-Mart is the next retailer jumping on the Blu-ray bandwagon. It will be ditching HD-DVDs this year as well. This includes Sam’s. I’m now wondering when I will hear the death knoll from Amazon.

Besides the rumor of Target phasing out the HD-DVD format in favor of Blu-ray, Netflix sent customers with HD-DVD capabilites designated in their profile an e-mail today stating that they are phasing out HD-DVDs–meaning that they will no longer purchase any new inventory of HD-DVDs and they will not replace their current stock either.
