The Weekend In Brief Review

Oct 18th, 2010By: Comments 0

Busy weekend: two get together’s for birthdays, tumbling classes, flu shots, pumpkin patch and all day at faire on Sunday. Mix that in with sinus congestion and lack of sleep because of sinus congestion, and I’m pretty beat. Sunday’s wake time was 3:47am. This morning’s was 1:51am, and while I tried to go back to sleep, I gave up a little before 4:00am and just got up. The bonus is I got four loads of laundry done by 7:00am. Jay joined me around 4:30am. I suspect he will put himself down for a nap today. I’ll have a complete system failure soon as well.

I’m still doing well with eating, except for at faire when I decided to go ahead and do the beer tasting with Mac. Oops. Then I wanted those sugar/cinnamon coated almonds. And ate too many of them. Oh well. I went to both get together’s though and ate correctly. It isn’t easy to go out to eat, avoid grains and eat things other than salad. It is amazing how they are in everything. I scored with a very good naked lamb burger at Pachamama’s and an entire dish that originally had not a single grain in it so I didn’t have to modify it at all at Anglers. I’m planning on my Navajo Stew this week, replacing black beans with ground emu. I’m also baking cookies this week: walnut maple and lemon ginger shortbread. Let’s see how well I do with those in the house.

Now I must do chores, the first–besides the laundry I have done this morning–is mowing. Yes. Stuff is still growing in my yard. Thank you 70 and 80 degree October. At least it is cool outside right now, but I don’t think I’m going to improve my sinuses by mowing. Hopefully, this is the last time until Spring. Please?
