That’s Cheap Cleaning

Right after Ada was born, I bought two 16oz bottles of Dr. Bonner’s liquid soap when I found them on sale. I’ve been mainly using it diluted it a spray bottle for general household cleaning, although I have used it to clean both my babies.

I just diluted the last of it today. I’ve kept in my mind that I paid almost $7.00 /bottle. That’s $2.80 per year for cleaning soap. However, I’ve bought 5 other bottles of cleaner during this time: three Method cucumber cleaner and two Meyer’s Clean Day in lemon verbana. I did so to replace my worn out spray bottle and because I like the smell of those cleaners, otherwise I would have just bought a cheap spray bottle. So $2.80/year plus the cost of those extra bottles which I haven’t looked up. Even with the extra bottles, it’s still pretty cheap, I think. I wonder how many people spend that or more a month on a bottle of cleaner that they just throw out the bottle when they are done. Because they have a coupon*.

I bought a refill bottle of Meyer’s to tide me over until I refill the Bonner’s. They now have new ones since I bought mine. I think I’ll replace the tea tree one, and then try the new citrus one. I like the smell of citrus. It makes things smell especially clean. Probably due to a lot of marketing by chemical makers who use lemon and orange to make you think it is clean. Or they use it because they found that people think things are clean if it smells like lemon or orange. It works for me, anyhow. As does cucumber.

Spaceship Earth!

*If anybody sees a Dr. Bonner’s coupon or sale, let me know.

I even use his almond-scented castille soap to clean *my face*. That stuff is the bomb. Do you use the standard liquid soaps for housecleaning, or is there a separate product for that?
