I’ve been so lax about planning weekly meals, it is crazy. I actually found the energy to plan a few meals before I went to the grocery.
Yesterday: Balsamic-glazed Salmon with Spinach, Capers, and Golden Raisins – The family hates salmon, so even with the balsamic glaze, which is pretty flavorful, I still couldn’t get salmon down their throats. Oh well, I rarely make them eat it. They can deal once in awhile.
Today: Jack Stack’n Joes — Homemade sloppy joes using Jack Stack BBQ sauce, of which I have an abundance. It involves a lot of dicing: one onion, four cloves of garlic, celery, green bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, and an ancho pepper. The sauce uses Jack Stack, tomato sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire, agave and brown sugar and a dash of apple cider vinegar.
Tomorrow: Asian Steak Salad with Spicy Vinaigrette
Topic: School
I drove Ada to school for the last class of the spring session. She’s going to summer school, so my summer break is only 1.5 weeks long. Then she has another break the end of July. My way home from school drop-off this morning was David Lynch-ish. It started when a single drop of water hit my windshield, running a stream in front of my face. Then a crow flew in front of me, Jay started fake sleeping*, and something hit my ankle a few times. I looked down startled only to find a lime. A LIME. This all happened within one block.
Topic: My Kids
It’s interesting the differences in my kids. Ada’s Joy: going outside and running and running and running. Jay’s Joy: sitting in his underwear, scratching himself and playing games on the 360 or PS3. Or their computer. He could spend hours just pushing buttons on the computer.
Topic: Teeth
Ada lost her second tooth today. The tooth fairy won’t be able to visit until tomorrow. We have secret plans for them tonight.
This is where he tilts his head to the side and snores really loud with his eyes open.
