Summer Returns
Saturday’s weather was perfect for going to faire: 70s and partly cloudy w/slight breeze. Plus it had rained, so the ground was wet enough to not blow dirt in your face along with the refreshing breeze.
Sunday was our reprieve of summer with temps in the upper 80s and enough humidity to make it feel warmer. It felt like a summer day in Kansas. Guests came over bearing smoked chicken and bread. The kids celebrated the day in the backyard with water and mud. We ended the day with popcorn and cat faces, courtesy of the one operating the hose in this photo.
I was hoping that if I gave them gardening tools they would pull all the weeds from that back planting area, but no go. They focused on making mud pits and planting sticks and dried blueberries. At least they didn’t dig up the hamster. I declared making gardening tools green and brown the Dumbest Idea Ever when I had to search the yard for two missing ones. I plan on putting day glow orange tape around the handles.
It took me awhile to get to sleep tonight, after 1:00am. Ada woke me up about ten minutes before 5:00. I’ve been awake since. Thankfully I can take a nap after I get home from dropping her off to school.
