It’s about time she earns her keep

I’m not being that drastic, but Ada is old enough to start learning about money. She already seems to love putting money in her banks, but she doesn’t really realize what it is except that we work for it to pay for the house.

Ada gets to earn money for her Halloween costume that she is so uber-excited to get. Instead of the standard chore chart, I sat with her and we made a chore spreadsheet. When she helps me do things around the house, she gets to mark a column on the spreadsheet and watch all the columns automatically calculate totals. I’m giving her $0.25/chore. Most days, she will probably earn $.50. Yesterday, she helped to pick up the toys in the play room and set the table for dinner. Today, she has helped clean bathrooms and will hopefully put away toys in her bedroom. If she helps again to set the table, she could end up with a whopping $.75.

Although, I refer to it as her task list and not her chore list.

Once we are done for today, we are going to play a game together as a reward.
