Home Again, Home Again
I’m home again. I was surprised that my house was an even bigger mess upon returning than I left it, and even its pre-traveling state wasn’t clean. Today I
- picked up the upstairs kid toys*
- put away the dishes that I had washed on Wednesday
- refilled and washed new dishes
- washed, folded and put away four loads of laundry–the fifth is in the dryer until tomorrow**
- took out the trash
- unpacked the suitcase
- put away the suitcase
- cleared off the kitchen table
- cleaned the living room carpet
- Put in the 2009-2010 school schedule in our calendar. School starts Sept. 1st for Ada!
Tomorrow I am going to re-arrange the living room furniture a tad to make room for some end tables. I would love to start cleaning the rest of the carpets, but my cleaner started making this hideous noise and corresponding hideous smell at the end of the living room cleaning. Hopefully it is something simple like a belt replacement. Tomorrow I am cleaning out the fridge, getting paperwork notarized for Ada’s school***, cleaning walls in the living room. Pretty soon I will start my painting projects. I would like to get that done by the end of September.
When I start working again, I’m hiring a cleaning service. I cannot work 40+ hours/week and keep up with the house.
I have yet to spend time on my hobby or spent one whole day doing nothing but reading a book. I’ve just filled my work hours with a different type of work. Hopefully I’ll get house task list caught up soon. I’m also going to give a new hobby a try. One that requires that I buy new shoes. Which I’m going to do on Wednesday.
*Jay helped pick up toys in the living room and bedroom. Ada blatantly said “no” twice, so she got to sit on her bed without any toys or talking. About 20 minutes of that and she was ready to pick up the toys downstairs. Which they then played with and destroyed the efforts. She gets to do it again tomorrow.
**Jay also helped with this task. It was really adorable. He’s say, “I do this one,” pick up an item of clothing, wad it in a ball and say “Here go Mommy.” He even carried some of the wadded balls to the appropriate place.
***I’m I the only one who thinks it is bordering on ridiculous having to get school paperwork notarized?
