The new drive…It burns! It burns me!
The new drive is in and is currently branding my legs with its fire. Spotlight is indexing and using most of my CPU. Had I known this beforehand, I would have changed the CPU priority for Spotlight. As of now, it is 59% done, so I will let it continue.
I have 370GB available. Ah, that’s much better.
I’m also considering building myself a desktop for most of my photo work because frankly, this laptop just doesn’t cut it. The new drive may improve the process since I can now just download the photos to my laptop, and move the ones that I plan to keep to the fileserver. Downloading them to the fileserver and then importing them into Lightroom from there is really, really slow. Slow as in one photo can take 3 – 5 minutes to load for editing. I also now have Adobe Bridge. We’ll see what I can work out for fast editing and long-term storage.
Spotlight is now 77% done.
