The progress list
The thing that is making me super happy is that I’m not spending all my free time working on things in my house. That makes it much more pleasant because I know I can still have free time. Things are progressing:
- House is being painted. We picked up new house numbers. I’ll get a photo soon.
- One door guy came yesterday to give us quotes for replacing ours. It is expensive! We aren’t even getting fancy doors.
- I picked out some clothes to donate to daycare for the pile of spare clothes. Not all parents remember to bring a spare pair, and kids still get dirty or have accidents.
- The rest of the clothes are in plastic bins. I would love to sell them, but not one single person responded to the Craigslist post. Cheap clothes. Seriously. A garage sale might bring in money, but I hate them soooo much. I would rather dump all the clothes off at a charity and be done with it.
- Ditto for toys. I want them out.
- I am getting rid of a lot of stuffed monkeys. I’ve had some of them for 15 years. I’m keeping a few, but not many. I bestowed two upon Squanto. He danced and chewed with one for about two minutes before he decided he needed another nap.
Squanto is getting old. It makes me sad. He can’t hear anymore, or at least if he does hear things, it is barely. We’ve scared him more than once. He no longer runs barking to the door when someone knocks or rings. He doesn’t respond to me at all unless he is looking at me. I could yell his name, and he doesn’t respond at all. I have started pounding on the floor when I want him to come. He’s getting cataracts. He recently had surgery to remove a mass from his liver. He can barely go up the stairs from the basement. I’ve started just carrying him up and down. He still likes to lie on my feet, and paws at me when he wants petted, and I almost got him to do The Run. Almost.
That’s what he gets, for living a rock n’ roll lifestyle! All that hard liquor and loud music were bound to catch up to him sooner or later.
