Ah, wonderful, beautiful, fabulous sushi!
We meet again, oh wonderful sushi! It seems like ages since we have had any quality time together.
Okay, sort of a lie. I’ve had some cheap sushi via take-out, but it is not nearly as good or satisfying as getting it freshly made at Yokohama* or Wa.
Since Ada has been home in the afternoon, I have had the opportunity to go out for sushi once with a co-worker. The setting for my favorite places in town is not exactly child-friendly. I’m sure some of my friends are happy to know that I don’t like dealing with a rowdy child in a non-child friendly place anymore that the non-child patrons are in listening to me dealing with a rowdy child. If my child can’t behave, then I’m apt to leave or not go there in the first place.
Yesterday, we gave taking Ada out for sushi a go because I feel sushi deprived, and the lunch crowd is always small. She has a hard time eating sushi because it is a little difficult for her to bite through the nori, and it is too big to shove it all in her mouth, and then it falls apart and so on. She did try one piece of our roll, and the bento box that I ordered for her had two pieces in it. She did good until the end when she got restless and wanted to lie down on the bench instead of sitting on the bench, and there were only 4 pieces of rice on the floor when we left. My sushi craving has been satisfied, for now. I feel confident that when we go back next month, there will not be a “Do Not Serve This Customer” photo of her at the hostess station.
*This Yokohama–Not to be confused with tires–the tire dealer in town does not serve sushi.
