See what I mean
If you didn’t get through my recent short story of a post, I had this to say:
Ada has recently hit another milestone: She completely understands what birthdays are, and she thinks every celebration is for her.
This is her drawing she brought home from school today. We aren’t sure what the red thing is. We conjectured it is the blood of those who forgot her birthday–which is now only about 9 days away. I don’t know how much past her birthday this obsession will go. We aren’t having her party until May 17th because we have friends whose son shares a birthday with Ada, and this May 4th is his first birthday. I was going to have it on May 10th, but I didn’t realize that it was Mother’s Day. So, we will have it on May 17th. There are also seven other people that are invited who have a birthday in May, so we include them in the celebration. I’m going to make them all wear hats. Even Mike.
I am taking May 4th off of work. I wanted to save all of my vacation because I get it paid out in my last paycheck in July. I think that I can afford to use one day for Ada. She still has to go to school that morning, but she’ll love that. They celebrate birthdays at Raintree by having the birthday child make a cake to share with everybody. She loves helping cook*. Plus, she constantly talks about her cake**. I’ll make some plans for us in the afternoon. The evening will include cupcakes. And balloons. And flowers.
Also, huh?
*She helped me make ice cream this afternoon.
**And not in that GLaDOS sort of way. At least I hope not.
