Yippee, it is on CNN!

I’m only happy to see it because now maybe people will believe me when I say I cannot eat melons.

It also makes me wonder if I can eat melons. My ragweed allergy when I was young was horrendous. I’m talking eyes-almost-swelling-shut and wanting-to-rip-my-itchy-nose-off-my-face and my-sinuses-are-going-to-explode horrendous. Now, it isn’t so bad. It has tamed enough that I only need Benedryl sometimes to help with itchy eyes and sneezing during the peak months of June-August. When I started college, I was still at the point where Benedryl only did me good if I didn’t go outside. Once outside, not so good.

The great amount to which my allergies have eased makes me wonder if my melon problem has also eased. Maybe I’ll be brave and try some. It won’t kill me to eat a few. If I have the same reaction, eating a few bites of melon will make my throat and eustation tubes itch really badly. Eating more than that, like a slice of watermelon, will make my throat swell.

And try scratching your eustation tubes. That is why I just don’t eat any melon. Not even a bite.

I’m sure with a small enough one, you could get it out your ear. Might have some issues getting past the eardrum, but then you won’t be bothered by crying children. ;-)
