At last, my love has come along!
Those that have been reading awhile know my hatred for onions–at least, cutting onions. I have tried a few of the wives tales that people have passed along. I have tried those onion choppers that are suppose to keep them contained. I have tried frozen onions. Except for the frozen, no method has stopped the horrific pain that onions inflict on my eyes, and the frozen onions are way too watery for my uses.
I keep chopping, as quick as I can, contain the unused onion in a zip lock and move the chopped onion as far away from me as possible, and I still have to run my eyes under water one or two times to ease the pain.
Until now. I doled out the cash for onion goggles–ones that have a pretty good seal around my eyes.
Tonight for dinner, Mac brought home steak/bacon rolls. I decided corn with onions & bacon would be a good side. I chopped onions for the first time using my goggles. OMG–They are wonderful! I didn’t even shed a tear, let alone experience any searing pain. It helps to find a solution when you truly understand the problem. I’m glad I finally did a little research as to why they cause me so much pain.
And I typed “google” the first time when I should have been typing “goggle” everytime– even in this sentence.
