I am still here
After 10 days, I’m finally starting to feel like a normal person again. My sinuses finally cleared, but my throat got worse, to a point where it was difficult to swallow. I didn’t want to do anything but sleep, but that is difficult with a job and kids. Today is the first day that my throat doesn’t hurt. I’m just slightly stuffy and have an occasional cough.
Ada has been home the last two days with a cold. She knows that she is suppose to use tissue, and she tries, but she still ends up rubbing snot all over her hands and face. Hopefully the snot will clear up enough tomorrow to send her back*.
I made dinner last night for the first time in awhile! I didn’t end up making a weekly menu, so I have no idea what we are having tonight. I am feeling well enough that I’m going to make up that pizza dough tonight to use tomorrow. The dough recipe that I use makes three medium pizzas, so I always put dough in the refrigerator for a day or two later. I have discovered that the dough that sits in the fridge for a day makes better pizza than the one that I use right away, so I’m making all my pizza dough the night before from now on. This time, I’m going to throw one dough ball in the freezer and then try it a week or two later to see how well it tastes.
*Yes, it is a rule. Too much snot means that you can’t take your kid to school. I feel very lucky that I have the work arrangement that I do. Most work places are not family friendly, and when you have to miss work because your kid has too much snot, it makes life very difficult. My official work policy was you could use two sick days a year to stay home with a sick child. When Ada was a baby and in daycare, she would get ear infections every other week, and she couldn’t go back to school until she went 24 hours without a fever. I used both of my official sick days the first half of January. I was lucky. I had an understanding manager, and the ability to work from home, so I could still stay on top of my projects and be home with Ada.
