GTD in the New Year

I still haven’t read listened to the book, but I did Get Some Things Done today. First, I installed a free task application to try out. Not impressed with it. I would like to have Things, but I can’t spend money on it at the moment. I’ll stick with text TODO lists and my calendar for now, or use ToDoList, which is a great free one for Windows that I use at work. I can cross these items off my list:

  • All but one load of laundry done and put away.
  • Quicken updated–we spent more on Christmas than I thought. I need to update and categorize my expenses every week.
  • Bathroom cleaned–the big part of this wasn’t the cleaning. It was the organizing and purging that I did.
  • Applesauce made for James’ new diet that will allow me to change his diapers without gagging.

It doesn’t seem like a lot, but I had two children “helping” me with the bathroom organization, so it took twice as long than if I did it alone. James likes to “help” with the laundry as well.

The pain surfaced again, taking residence in my throat. It is a wonderful sharp pain, especially when swallowing. I did get Kathleen Turner voice out of the deal though.

My one task for tomorrow that I have to get done is my weekly menu. I’m still basing my meals off of what I have in my deep freeze. I need to clean it out so I can defrost it.

I’m a fan of Things, but you do have to keep on it (ie. it running, using it, etc) to benefit from it. I have it for computer and iphone in hopes of them all syncing someday… soon). Need to be in bed… rock band is a little addictive. :-)

There aren’t a lot of things that will work if you don’t use it :) The iPhone part is what pushed this one to the top of my list. Right now, I’m using a Google spreadsheet. Rock Band is terribly addictive. Just about any game we buy ends up sucking too much of my time.
