Choosing your words carefully
I would not be good at this. I know that I’m criticizing something I cannot do better. However, this headline struck a nerve with me: Obama raps Bowl Championship Series: ‘We need a playoff’.
There are a lot of things that this country needs right now. A playoff system for NCAA Division I football is not one of them. Removing the word “need” from that statement would ease my irritation, but only a little. Besides the obvious fact that Legislators need to prioritize what they are focusing on, this quote about the current BCS system irks me, “‘…but can anyone say unequivocally that the winner will be the best team in the country?’”
No, and even with a playoff system the answer is still no. Maybe we could get back to things that would help my husband find a job, yes?
Yes, one quote about something not related to the economy is definitely worth getting upset over. It’s not like he’s had about fifteen press conferences about the economy in the last month (without him even being president, so he doesn’t HAVE to do those, he chooses to). One of the keys to economic recovery, and this is something that happened in the Depression as well, is not always FOCUSING on how bad the economic times are. Exert some thought in other places, and sports is one of those.
