Happy Anniversary!
Mac and I were married on a sunny, mid-70s November day at Danforth on the KU campus. There was a football game that day, and the parking department was still nice enough to block off a lot for us. While I was waiting outside with my party, the droves of people that were walking to get the the game were all nice enough to walk around the chapel area instead of cutting through. Strangers were kind with compliments to me and my dress and congratulations on the event. One friend stepped up to handle making sure all the reception events worked as planned and other friends surprised me with monkey decor. People spent the reception eating, snapping photos and dancing to the dorky wedding music without complaints. I’m not even sure who cleaned anything up or gathered gifts. Someone just took care of it.
My only dreams when I was growing up for any sort of wedding was that it would be at Wrigley Field. That didn’t happen, but the day was perfect anyhow and it wasn’t because of the perfect weather or a perfect dress or the perfect flowers or music or food. I married the perfect person for me, and all the people who shared in the day–family, friends and even strangers–were all perfect. I now have a mark in my calendar to take one day every year to remember how wonderful people were to me.
Thank you.
Congratulations! It’s amazing how in hindsight the wedding itself doesn’t matter nearly as much as the marriage.
It doesn’t matter at all. Too much stress occurs over the parts that aren’t important.
Thanks!
Aw.
It was a beautiful day. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!
Thank you! And thank you for your help on that day as well.
