Voting records

Mac and I were not among the people getting in line at the polls. Why? Because we voted over a week ago. Kansas set a record this year in advanced ballots: 419,650 had either been cast in person or mailed as of Monday. The last record was set in 2004 with 245,680 advanced ballots. Kansas has allowed advanced voting since 1996.

I can’t wait to see how many people voted for this election. Hopefully the turn out will be high. Advanced voting was really easy. You filled out a form, you get the ballot in the mail and then you mailed it back. You could even go in person and vote ahead of time. I’m so surprised at the number of people that do not vote. The “I don’t like any of the candidates” is not a valid excuse. You can do a write in vote. You can even do affidavit voting, so if you don’t have the physical ability to vote, someone can do it for you. For most non-voters, the only valid excuse for not voting is that you are lazy.

Tonight, as we wait for election results, we are eating Hobo burgers because if the wrong person is elected, Mac and I could potentially become Hobos by the end of next year.
