Halloween 2008
The Day In Brief
We went to daycare today for both Ada and James’ parties. They each had one, and once James saw Mac, he couldn’t put him down, so Mac did James’ party and I did Ada’s. I didn’t get very good photos of James since I wasn’t around him much. We may have to dress him up again for a reenactment photo. After the parties, we decided to do a fast food run since I was so busy at work, I didn’t really have anything for dinner. We really needed something besides candy. One of the people working the drive-through was playing with Ada through the window while we waited for our food–she was in bee costume from her daycare party. He made a small shake and handed it to us through the window and said, “We don’t have any candy, but she really deserves this.” One, there went our plan to get something non-sugar related for dinner and two, how incredibly nice! I love encountering those small gestures of kindness. After we ate, we headed to visit relatives and then did our walk on Mass street. Then we came home, in time for me to take a shower and then start work, which I just recently finished.
The Kids’ Costumes
James was a vampire, but while I do call him my Blondie Bear, I didn’t pick it for that reason. I would have had quite a search on my hands to get a coat for little James to dress him up after his nickname-sake. I picked it because, OMG, the vest and the cape! This photo doesn’t come close in portraying how adorable he was walking around in that vest and cape*.
Ada was a bee. Ada picked out her costume this year, and I cannot tell you how relieved I was to find out she was not interested in being a princess. I don’t know how I will handle it if she jumps on the princess bandwagon. I may have to have her sit down with one of her aunts when that difficult issue comes up. She also wanted a S.W.A.T. helmet to go along with her bee costume, so there is hope that she is so full of my genes that she’ll never, ever want to be a princess.
*It isn’t a real vest since it and the shirt are one piece. However, now I really, really want to get him a real brocade vest because, again, OMG, cute attack!
