On rain and warm smells
It rained yesterday. It is suppose to rain all day today. It is raining right now. It is warm enough out, so when I took Ada to school this morning, I went sans umbrella for me. It felt really good.
We went out yesterday before picking up the kids to buy more socks, and one more pair of long pants for James and Ada. Our washing machine is supposed to be fixed tomorrow, and I decided that I would rather buy more clothes for today than haul out the laundry somewhere last night. Please, I hope it gets fixed okay tomorrow. A fully functioning washing machine in my house will be a joy! Plus, Ada’s socks are notorious for just disappearing, and I have this feeling that we’ll find three of them in the pump of the washing machine tomorrow. I really have no idea why all her socks disappear. We bought her 10 more pairs.
I put on a pot of apples, apricots, a lemon, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves this morning before taking Ada to school. The freshness from the rain and the warm smell from the cooking fruit is fantastic. Right now it is cooling off so I can pop it into the food processor to make applesauce for the kids.
It is almost time to go back out and pick Ada up from school and take her to daycare. It seems like I’m always running around these days.
Man do I wish I had bought apricots last night at the grocery store…Do you crockpot this?
I do not because I need the liquid to evaporate and escape so the applesauce is not too runny. Thicker applesauce is a little easier for James to eat. I use a stockpot on the stove on low, medium-low and let it cook for about 3 hours.
