Day 191: Why do they keep doing this?
Ada and I went shopping today. I needed a new wallet*, and Ada needed shoes. I told her we were going out to buy her shoes, and she got really excited. I knew I was in trouble on her first birthday when the only present that got her really excited were her pink chucks. She even tried to put them on her feet. Ada’s heels are now over the edge of her sandals. I tried on a few of her other shoes, and they were way too difficult to put on. This photo is why. The top shoe was bought for her in the spring. They fit her then. I don’t remember when she wore them last, but when she tried them on a month ago, they didn’t fit. The bottom is a shoe we bought today. I had to replace her tennis shoes as well. I decided to not get her any sandals since the weather surely won’t stay warm long enough to make it worth it. She won’t fit in them next summer if I bought her new ones. Look at the difference in these. We picked up one more pair besides these. She would have picked up every shoe in the store if I would have let her.
I also picked her up socks. I had to abandon to the toddler’s section and move to the girl’s section to get socks that fit her.
I have a long time before she stops growing, but I feel like she is doing it too fast.
*I am giving up my monkey wallet that I’ve been carrying for about 8 years, and replacing it with a smaller, not falling apart, grown-up wallet. It was time for a grown-up wallet**, and perhaps I will stop getting carded without the monkey wallet. I gave Ada my monkey wallet and some old appointment cards and receipts.
**And they didn’t have monkey wallets.

For a moment there, I thought that was *your* pink shoe on the bottom and I was going to freak out. Then I realized the chances of Stu having a pink maryjane like that was quite, *quite* slim.
Black, yes. Red, sure. Green, wow! Pink, not so much.
I have bought one pair of pink heels. The only pink shoe that I’ve ever owned. That I remember.
The way Ada’s feet are growing, she will be wearing my size by the time she is eight.
Maybe if it was Disco Stu.
The crazy foot growth will slow down. Darren now wears his shoes out before he outgrows them. Caroline, not so much. The shoes I bought her at the beginning of July are starting to seem small.
It’s training, so she gets used to shopping for new shoes.
