Day 171: A long time coming
I haven’t baked anything in a long, long time. Last night I decided to make brownies. I saw a recipe for “The Best Fudge Brownies Ever” that I have been waiting to try. I was smart enough this time to give Ada her own bowl of dry ingredients to stir instead of letting her stir the ones I needed for the brownies. This recipe used a technique of combining the butter and sugar that I had never done before with brownies. I wouldn’t call this the Best Fudge Brownies ever, but I think I’ll use this technique with my much loved recipe to see if I can make my perfect brownie.
Ada enjoyed measuring and mixing her own bowl, but I think she enjoyed washing* the dishes more.
*AKA: playing in the water

So…what was the technique?
This recipe melted the butter, which I do when making brownies, but then you took it off the heat, mixed in the sugar, and then put it back on the heat and keep mixing until it gets shiny, keeping the heat low enough that it doesn’t start to boil.
I found this one on a bag of King Arthur flour.
