Bonus Photo: It seemed like a good idea at the time

Yes, that is correct. We blindfolded Ada, gave her a stick and told her to start swinging.

Today seemed to be all about food. Well, the morning started off fine. I had granola and berries and of course, coffee. We left to run our errands, and when we got home, Mac’s SIL brought over Vermont Street BBQ. That’s where my day went downhill. I ate too much. And then we went outside to break open the piñata they brought over for Ada and Lily to hit for their birthday. So there was candy. And then my mother wanted to go out for dinner since she has her new hair, so we had Mexican food. I just had to drink a margarita. I feel like I’m about to give birth to a big food baby.

After the BBQ and before the Mexican, I decided to clean out my closet. I was convinced that my ring was in there because the last time I remember having it was when I was de-boning the chicken from dinner a few nights ago. I took it off and put it in my pocket so it wouldn’t get all slimy. I had already done a search of the closet and a search of the laundry separators, and came up empty. I needed to sort through clothes anyhow, so I emptied off both my racks and all my shelves. I picked up the two empty shoe boxes that were on the floor and the three pairs of shoes that didn’t make it back to the shoe shelf. Nothing. I took off the grate to the air duct. I found dust, a paper clip and two pennies, but no ring. I was starting to tear up because, dude, it is my wedding ring*. I decided to go ahead and put the dark clothes in the wash. As I was flinging them from the separators to the basket, out popped my wedding ring and landed in the middle of the closet floor! I am so happy and relieved! Now I need to remember all those things that I promised I would do if only my ring would miraculously appear.

The closet cleaning was needed anyhow. All the winter clothes are on the back, bottom rack. All the summer clothes in easy reach. I found one pair of jeans that were in a size smaller, as well as three pairs of work pants. Score! All my t-shirts are nicely folded. I even cleaned out the dresser, so my socks** are all nicely aligned and undies nicely folded. I love cleaning out and re-orging this stuff. It looks nice and I know where everything is at. I wish I did it more than two times a year, or I had the ability to keep it this way all year long.

I ended up with two trash bags filled with stuff that is too big for me. It left me a little empty for the summer, and I have no dresses anymore. There was a big sale on sun dresses today, but I didn’t have time to try them on, and none of them were petites, so I’m sure they would have been too long anyway. I’ll keep looking though. Perhaps Memorial Day weekend. We are not going anywhere, and there are always sales on Memorial Day weekend. I’ll just find something that fits me that looks like it would be easy to alter and have the hem taken up.

Oh, and my big purchase today. I bought a swim suit. To, you know, wear in public.

There are a lot of freakin’ sirens going off around here. Accident? Fire?

*Here is Mac’s reaction to me losing my ring: “Don’t worry about it, honey. We’ll just get you a better one.” How lucky am I! I didn’t want another ring though. I just wanted to find the one he already gave me.

**I’m down to 27 pairs of monkey socks. Yes, you read that correctly. Down.

One Response so far.

    Aw, Mac.

    Best. Husband. Ever.

I guess I won’t buy you monkey socks when I go to Target anymore. Let me know when I should start up again.
