Day 115: Hey, look up there!
Ada is providing a distraction so hopefully people won’t notice that I have nothing to say today. At least I got one up in time.

I’m very excited that her eye color appears to not have changed (no, I’m not stalking her – just living vicariously). When is the “cut-off” by which one can determine that she will likely retain her eye color into adult-hood?
Usually by a year, and mostly they darken because melanin is produced during the first year.
However.
My eyes were the same color as Ada’s, and mine continued to change. Now mine are hazel with bits of gold (almost like eye freckles) that seem to keep on increasing. My hair also changed color when I was in college from blond to reddish-brown. I also did not have freckles until, hmmm.. I may have started to get them a little bit when I was 5, but I didn’t have full blown freckles like I do now until I was older.
My brother, mother and grandfather also had the blond to brown hair color change during their late teens/early 20s. My brother was born with blond hair like James, and his is darker than mine. I was born with the exact same color as Ada’s and it started changing between 4th and 5th grade.
So with Ada, if she follows my pattern at all, she will end up with hazel eyes.
Yeah, but your body knows how finicky you are, and how much you like to redecorate frequently.
Hazel is a good color for nuts (like me). I love hazelnuts.
I’ve always heard it will change by their first birthday. Both of my kids eyes just got darker blue.
