Boo!
Mac had a case of hiccups early this morning. They were bad enough that I could hear them from the bedroom while he was in the kitchen. I asked him if he would like me to scare them out of him. He nodded yes, so I said “I took all of our money out of our savings and bought a BMW.”
It scared him, but didn’t work at vanquishing the hiccups.
His pain is staying at tolerable levels. We have read that the first few days are fine, but it is after about day three that the pain starts getting really bad.
He has my laptop to speak his words for him. It pronounces our last name incorrectly. I bet it will pronounce “Ada” wrong as well.
LOL! That’s awesome! That wouldn’t have worked for me. I would have wanted to go for a drive. Exhaling all of the air out of my lungs and swallowing twice always works for getting rid of my hiccups. If you do it right, the second swallow should hurt (in your gut). You’re basically using your muscles to push on your diaphragm, which is spasming.
The swallowing part is the hard thing for him right now. I’ll have to try it though the next time I get the hiccups because I usually just wait it out.
Yeah – bit of a Catch-22. My 9th grade Biology teacher taught me that trick. Made so much sense to me that I pushed myself through the pain of the second swallow (and the exhaling) to surprising (to me) results. For me, it works every time, now. (So, if at first you don’t succeed, try again
