Day 25: MacGyvering the lights

Day 25: MacGyvering the lights
I was sitting at my desk wondering what I was going to take for my photo today, when my light-bulb went off–the one on my desk. I looked at it and the light it was creating on the bulletin square of my desk and thought, I have an interesting backdrop for a photo. I went upstairs and grabbed my camera. I played around with different angles, and then started grabbing the white envelopes of recent bills to use as reflectors. I used one of my favorite candle holders as my subject. I need to use something to soften the light (see big light glare in the middle of the head), but overall I have a teeny little studio right on my desk. Well, at least I have a small space to play with lights and how to control them to get the results I want. Also, I don’t think I will ever shoot in AF for non-moving objects again. My success rate is much better when I use MF.
Here is another shot: nice backdrop lighting, but too much shadow. I also had the camera in AF, and it didn’t focus where I had it focused. This is a common problem of mine when I use AF.
Another quick shot just so you can see the full candle holder. I wasn’t trying anything with this. Just thought people would like to see the entire holder.
Where are the boobs?
Ha-ha.
Boob shots are in another flickr account of mine.
