Day 9: Manual Focus
The ritual to get Ada to bed with minimal drama is to take her to our bed. Sometimes, she is content to lie there and go to sleep. Sometimes she flips on the tv and then crawls into bed. Sometimes, I get in with her and we sing, watch tv or read books. Last night we did singing and watching tv. Then I heard thunder. And rain. I was pretty sure that chance was over yesterday, but I could hear it. I looked at the window–no lightning. So, I came out into the living room. Mac was playing the demo DVD from the speaker system I got him for Christmas. Yes, it sounded real enough from our bedroom!
After Mac had it up, I noticed that it had a nice glow behind it since it was sitting right by one of the two lamps. I decided it would be a nice opportunity to take a photo of something that sat still. I also wanted to try manual focus vs auto focus. This photo is manual focus. There isn’t a comparison with auto focus because once again, my camera wouldn’t focus on it when in auto focus. I haven’t had this problem in the past aside from these last few days so I’m baffled. I guess it is time to do some troubleshooting. Manual focus worked out great though! It was focused in about the same spot that I thought it would be.
I also need to get a different tripod. The legs on the one that I have keep collapsing. I don’t think it was meant to hold the weight of my camera.

If you focus on that bottom edge of wall, it should provide sufficient contrast in that level of light.
