A look back at MellyStu
I have converted all of my categories to tags — for the posts that had them. For those that don’t, I’ve taken on the task of tagging. That also means reading, and I’m enjoying looking back. I think I will post recaps of ones that I find interesting.
On moving and my accumulation of stuff – posted in September 2000.
Notes on that post
My next move should have involved professionals, but only involved myself and Mac. Not only did we clean out my stuff from that house, we also cleaned out another’s unwanted stuff that was left behind. We both did that without help, and it took two weeks and it was very tiring. I took that opportunity to reduce my possessions. Looking at my house now, I have it back and then some–lots more. Including two children.
The missing move is the one that happened in between the house in the old post and the current one that we’ve filled up. We closed on our current house 1.5 weeks before I had Ada. I was on restricted activity, and wasn’t suppose to do anything to help with this move. Lots of friends stepped up to help us out, and we got in here in one day — including not just helping to move but also helping to pack. People were wonderful! Thank-you, and as a gift to you, the next time we move, we will hire movers.
Also, the only thing that I miss from that house in the post is the dining room that I turned into my library. I don’t know when I’ll ever have a nice quiet room to relax and read in again. Not until I’ve turned 24 many, many, many times over.
Oh, and the bomb shelter that was underneath the front porch. The bomb shelter with a plywood door.
