I just did my benefits enrollment for next year, here are some numbers for coverage for me, Mac and Ada for the year 2006. There number are just the cost of the benefit and does not include co-pays and deductibles:

Medical: $11,338.34

Dental: $680.68

Vision: $185.90

Life Insurance: $211.58

Spouse Life Insurance: $91.20

AD&D Insurance: $40.30

Healthcare Spending Account: $1000

Independant Care Spending Account: $5000

Cost of benefits for 2006: $18,548

The company pays for $9,050.34 of that bill, leaving me with the rest. It gets higher and higher every year, and at a faster rate than my base pay gets higher. Then factor in the extra $6500+ in daycare costs that I can’t use my dependant care spending account for and the increased cost of gasoline and toll for traveling to work, and eek. I’m making way less and have way more job functions than when I started. I also didn’t just get an out of the blue bonus worth 100% of my annual salary either.

No wonder I’m starting to lose my drive. I think that I will go out for lunch and stop by to play with Ada.
