I can’t say that my dreams have become reality, but if that were ever to be the case, this world would be a much more interesting place. However, my new toy will keep me just as entertained.

This was a surprise present from Dave. My new Leadtek Winfast GeForce-Fx 5950 is almost too mighty for my motherboard, but so far is whisper quiet*. My new one will support AGP 8x, along with the my zippy 3.2 PIV CPU having a 800 MHz FSB** and my DDR 400 RAM, I’ll be speeding right along with my new video capture abilities. Plus, Startopia runs pretty sweet!

*That could be because my gimpy chipset fan on my motherboard is making a ruckus. I’m going to buy a new one later today, and then see if my video card is the loudest thing in my case.

**Okay, yes, technically the FSB is running at 200MHz, but the marketing speak makes me feel more powerful. Plus, the quad-data rate will make quite a difference***

***I’m basing that on my experience using a 200MHz with a dual data rate (or 400MHz FSB) compared to one truly running at only 200MHz. The thing booted up so fast, I had to have jedi-level reflexes just to get into the BIOS.
